Richard Angelo is a former American nurse who was convicted of murdering multiple patients while working at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Long Island, New York in the late 1980s. Angelo intentionally injected patients with lethal doses of medication, pretending to save them in order to receive praise and recognition for his actions.
Angelo's crimes were discovered in 1988 when multiple patients began dying unexpectedly under his care. An investigation found that he had manipulated medical records to cover up his actions and had a history of attention-seeking behavior.
In 1989, Richard Angelo was convicted of multiple counts of murder and sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. He is currently serving his sentence at the Wende Correctional Facility in New York.
Angelo's case highlights the dangers of healthcare professionals abusing their positions of trust and authority to harm vulnerable patients.
